Locals pubs and restaurants
The major watering hole in Austinmer is the Headlands Hotel.
Within the township are several restaurant/cafes that service both the local and tourist communities.
The Fireworks Café: In Moore Street (see map) this is a local restaurant that provides hearty home-style meals most lunchtimes and dinner from Thursday to Sunday (BYO).
Austibeach Café: Near the main beach, this café provides lunches and gelati and has a dinner menu at weekends.
Crack-A-jack Bistro, Austinmer Bowling Club: Offers a wide range of food at weekends and Sunday lunchtime.
Recreational activities
The coastline surrounding Austinmer has been likened to the Cornish seaside. Its natural beauty has been recognised for over a century. Back in the early 1900s it was promoted as a premium seaside resort for Sydneysiders and Austinmer Beach is regarded as one of the top surfing beaches in the region.
The region was first put on the map by the discovery of coal, and there are still reminders of this heritage along the coast between Austinmer and Wollongong.
In addition to the sea and beaches there is plenty of opportunity to explore the mountain forests to the west and panoramic views are plenty.
Map of routes to Sydney
The property is only one hour away from Sydney. Look at the map and the town plan to locate the major thoroughfare and train station. It is a comfortable 20 minute drive south to Wollongong which has major shopping centres and facilities.
